A Universal Framework for Analysis of Self-Replication Phenomena

چکیده
In this paper, we propose definitions for a general, domain-independent concept of replicability and specifically focus on the notion of self-replication. We argue that selfreplication should not be viewed as a binary property of a system, but rather as a continuously valued property of the interaction between a system and its environment. This property, selfreplicability, represents the effect of the presence of a system upon the future presence of similar systems. We demonstrate both analytical and computational analysis of self-replicability for four distinct systems involving both discrete and continuous, formal and physical behaviors.

A Universal Framework for Self-Replication
Self-replication is a fundamental property of many interesting physical, formal and biological systems, such as crystals, waves, automata, and especially forms of natural and artificial life. Despite its importance to many phenomena, self-replication has not been consistently defined or quantified in a rigorous, universal way. In this paper we propose a universal, continuously valued property o...
متن کاملEmergent Patterning Phenomena in 2D Cellular Automata
This article discusses mechanisms of pattern formation in 2D, self-replicating cellular automata (CAs). In particular, we present mechanisms for structure replication that provide insight into analogous processes in the biological world. After examining self-replicating structures and the way they reproduce, we consider their fractal properties and scale invariance. We explore the space of all ...
متن کاملDeveloping the Conceptual and Methodological Framework for Discursive-institutional Analysis of Coastal Exclusive Space Production: with Special Reference to Critical Realism Perspective
Because of the limited capacity of coastal lands and conflicting interests among stakeholders for coastal resources, there are intensifying pressures to retain and provide more public access to the coast. Coastal gated communities have been developed increasingly in the middle shoreline of Caspian Sea in North of Iran. They are kind of exclusive space production as they restrict public access t...
متن کاملDiagonal arguments and fixed points
A universal schema for diagonalization was popularized by N.S. Yanofsky (2003), based on a pioneering work of F.W. Lawvere (1969), in which the existence of a (diagonolized-out and contradictory) object implies the existence of a fixed-point for a certain function. It was shown that many self-referential paradoxes and diagonally proved theorems can fit in that schema. Here, we fi...
متن کاملDesigning a Conceptual Framework for Employees' Self-development Behavio; a Case in the Khorasan Razavi, North and South Gas Company
The concept of "self-development behavior and the voluntary development of employees" has a special position in the literature of organizational behavior and organizational resource management; and management scholars and experts have different views on this. The main purpose of the present study was to present a conceptual framework for employees' self-development behavior. This research was d...
